Adoption of General Display Name
In SuccessFactos, there is a standard field called DISPLAYNAME, which could be used differently, like in the People Profile or the UDF.
👉 This field is generated through a Job that executes a concatenation by following the instructions configured for each legal entity.
👉 The definition of the field DISPLAYNAME, is through the object “Name Format”.(screenshot below)
⭐ Here you can define as many formats as you prefer. Later these formats will be assigned to legal entities.,

Assigning to each company
Maybe you want to concatenate the display name differently in Germany than in Japan, this is possible thanks to the field “Name Format”.
Configuring the Display Name in the People Profile
Also, it is possible to configure how the name is shown in the people profile.
Go to Admin Center Configure People Profile General Settings Choose Name Format.
As of the First Half 2025 Release, the Adoption of General Display Name will be universal and the opt out option will be removed.
Where is display-name ?
A standard element, displayName, is used to store General Display Name. This element is always readable.
👉 Please note that it can’t be seen or configured in the Succession Data Model, nor can it be modified in Manage Business Configuration.
This means that even if you have a display-name in your business configuration, it will not be the one that follows the DISPLAYNAME configuration.
Refreshing General Display Name
After all the configuration,it’s requiered to refresh the general-display-name to trigger changes in the People Profile.
- Go to transaction Company System and Logo Settings.
- Click the Refresh General Display Name button right under the Enable adoption of General Display Name option.
This will impact on al the People Profile DISPLAYNAME.
